Fixings chosen for the wall you actually have
Period houses around here are rarely straightforward. Behind the plaster you might find soft London stock brick, lath and plaster on timber studs, a hollow chimney breast, or a dry-lined wall with a cavity nobody mentioned. Each needs a different fixing strategy, and a heavy screen on the wrong one is a genuine hazard.
We locate the structure before drilling, avoid pipes and cables, and use fixings rated well above the weight of your television. On stud walls we span the noggins properly; on chimney breasts we check the brickwork condition and keep clear of flue liners.
Then the finish. Power and aerial or satellite outlets go behind the screen, cables are chased in or routed through the void, and the bracket is set level and at the height you'll actually watch from — usually lower than people first suggest.

TV wall mounting — the details
Can you mount a TV above a working fireplace?
Often, but heat and flue position matter. We check the chimney breast build-up and will advise against it if the screen would sit in rising heat.
Can you hide the cables in a solid wall?
Yes — cables are chased into the plaster and made good, or run through a void where one exists. We agree the approach with you before starting.
What about lath and plaster or stud walls?
Both are fine with the right approach. We find and fix into the timber structure rather than relying on plasterboard anchors for a heavy screen.
Do you add a socket behind the TV?
We fit aerial and satellite outlets behind the screen. For new mains sockets we work with a qualified electrician so the certification is correct.
Will you take the old bracket down?
Yes, and we make the fixing holes good so the wall is ready for touching up.
